The Best Eyeliner to bring out those sultry eyes!

Your eyes are the most powerful features on your face, and the best eyeliner helps accentuate them. I personally love to use my best eyeliner to create a "cats eye" look, but I can't use just any old eyeliner to do that. For a crisp, clean look I use liquid or cream eyeliner. If I want more of a smudge-look I use eyeshadow as eyeliner or a pencil liner with smudge-effect. The type of eyeliner you use and how you use it affects your overall look. The advantage is that there are so many different types, textures, and colors on the market that you can achieve whatever effect you desire. In addition, you also have a variety of professional makeup brushes available to help you produce a more polished look. I personally can't say enough about how makeup brushes can have such a positive impact on the results you achieve.

Pencil: The most traditional of the best eyeliners, and is considered to be the easiest to apply. You have a choice of purchasing a pencil liner if you want to create a line that is either defined or smudged. They also come in waterproof or water-resistant forms as well, and those are just right if your eyes tend to water throughout the day. For easy application, I recommend using little strokes instead of one long line because it creates a more natural look.

If you still want to smooth out the line a bit more, trace over it with an angle brush. If you want to use a pencil liner on the lower lid, make sure to use a soft pencil that is easy to apply, and smooth out the edges with a smudge brush. Without a doubt, you will have a sharp and sensual look.

Liquid: This is the most difficult to apply, but with a lot of practice you will achieve a more precise and intense line. You may want to avoid wearing liquid liner if you’re going for an super soft look because it brings more attention to the eyes. The application tips come in two different forms: felt and brush. The felt-tip provides more stability if you need it, but you’re on your own with a brush tip. You must have a skilled and steady hand for this one.

The best way to draw a near perfect line is to begin at the center of the top eyelid and drag the tip to the outside corner of your eye. With the extra liquid left on the tip, start at the inner corner of the eye and drag the brush to the center, connecting the lines.

Eyeshadow: For a natural look, disregard the common eyeliners and go for an eyeshadow liner. The best way to apply it is to dip an angle brush into the product, lightly tap the brush on the countertop to remove any excess product, and connect the dots using small light strokes. This method will give you a smooth and sophisticated appearance.

For an intense line, wet the brush tip before dipping into the eyeshadow and apply. I prefer using this type to line my bottom lid because it creates a softer line that I can smudge easily with a small brush.

Cake: Once regarded as a must-have for professional makeup artists, this liner is growing in popularity, and is available in many different colors. You will receive the same amount of intensity as with a liquid liner, and it has awesome staying power. It is easier to use compared to the liquid, because the thickness of the product makes it easier to control.

Most are water-resistant and come in a small glass container. I prefer to use an angle brush to apply this formula because it’s easier to connect the lines using small strokes on the top eyelid.

Best Eyeliner Tips and Tricks

◈It’s your choice if you want to line the top lid only or both top and bottom lids. Lining both top and bottom will create a more dramatic look.
◈For a cat eye effect, extend the top line a little past the corner of the eye and slightly curve upwards.
◈For a smokey look, smudge your liner with a small smudge brush.
◈When selecting the best eyeliner, always choose the one that glides on smoothly and is easy to control.
◈For fun and flair, use an eyeshadow in a bright color to line the lower lid and smudge with a brush.
◈Avoid using too much liner, as it will make you look overly dramatic.
