Natural skin care recipes for cleansing and moisturizing
Natural skin care recipes began many centuries ago in Egypt and the Middle East in the form of facial treatments for certain skin types and conditions. Let’s face it, there weren’t any major cosmetic companies or factories back then, so the Egyptians had to experiment with ingredients produced by nature. What they learned from using certain ingredients is rising in popularity today.
If you haven’t already, you should consider using at least one of these skin care recipes if you have a unique skin type or need. The recipes aren’t too complicated, so don’t let yourself get overwhelmed. Incorporating natural skin care into your daily regimen just takes is a little practice and preparation.
Natural Facial Cleansing Recipes
Minty Facial Cleanser
¼ fresh mint leaves (finely chopped)
1 tbsp. sea salt
1 tbsp. soy-based facial cleanser
Apply to face and massage lightly. Rinse with warm water.

Oatmeal Cleanser
2 tsp. witch hazel
3 tbsp. oatmeal
½ tsp. water
Moisten the oatmeal with a little water first. Next add witch hazel and the ½ tsp. water. Apply to the face in circular motion. Rinse with warm water.

Coconut Oil Cleanser (Great for Dry Skin)
3 tbsp. coconut oil
1 tbsp. virgin olive oil
1 tbsp. glycerin
2 tsp. water
Place ingredients in a small pot and cook on low heat until melted. Remove from heat. Stir the formula as it cools. Apply to the skin in a circular motion, then rinse with warm water.
Afterwards, follow-up with an astringent. If you would like to preserve any leftover mixture, place in the refrigerator in an airtight container.

Skin Treatments to Moisturize and Soften the skin
Oatmeal and Honey Mix3 tsp. oatmeal 3 tsp. honey
Place both ingredients in a bowl and mix together. Massage onto the face and leave on for 15-20 mins. Rinse with lukewarm water. |
Honey and Yogurt Mask1 ½ tsp. honey 3 tbsp. plain yogurt Juice from ½ lemon 1 egg white (whipped)
Place ingredients in a bowl and mix together. Apply to the face and leave on for 15 mins. Rinse with lukewarm water. |
Protein Mask1 egg yolk (whipped) ¼ cup milk 1 tbsp. olive oil
Mix all ingredients together and massage onto the face for 15 mins. Rinse with lukewarm water. |
