Prom Makeup Tips for the Big Night!
You’ve been excited about prom for a while now, so it’s time to choose the best prom makeup look for the evening. This is one of the biggest events of your life, so I know you’re having a lot of fun selecting your dress, shoes, and hairstyle. Experiment with different makeup looks a couple of weeks before prom, or visit with a consultant or makeup artist for a professional application.
Because this is such a special event, you don’t want to look like your regular everyday self. Think outside the box and have fun with a bronzer or shimmer powder. My favorite prom makeup item is glitter eyeliner!! It adds just enough sparkle to your eyes without overwhelming the look. Follow the basic steps outlined here, but consider the below tips as an added extra. Tip #1: Don’t match your eyeshadow color to your dress because it’s too trendy. Always pick a natural color that compliments your skin tone and your dress. For instance, don’t wear blue eyeshadow with a blue dress. Instead choose mauve, gray, or a more natural color for the ultimate prom makeup look. Tip #2: Play up your eyes or your mouth, but not both! This look will make you look like you have too much makeup on, and it’s not a pretty look at all. If you want your eyes to be the focus, wear the eyeliner, eyeshadow, and mascara (curl those lashes). Just make sure you choose a soft or nude lip color with a bit of gloss. Tip #3: Go easy on the foundation. I personally don’t believe that you need foundation at your age, but I do recommend it if you’re having acne breakouts. For clear skin, just use a sheer powder as your foundation. If you want to cover pimples or dark circles underneath your eyes, apply a little bit of concealer on the spot, and don’t forger to blend out those edges. After that, cover with sheer powder to disguise. Tip #4: Don’t tweeze your eyebrows on the day of prom. Have them professionally done a few days before the event. To prevent overplucking, browse through magazines to find a picture of a model whose eyebrow shape you adore. Take that picture to a professional and have them duplicate the look for you. Tip #5: Remember to apply lipstick/lipgloss, and powder your oily areas before you take pictures. If you don’t have powder or blotting papers, then use a little bit of tissue paper to absorb the oils. Blot those oils baby! Tip #6: Don’t overload your purse with a bunch of extra stuff. All you need is lipstick/lipgloss, powder or blotting papers, and breath mints. You’ll be having too much fun to think about reapplying eyeshadow or blush. Tip #7: Smile and have fun! You don’t realize it now, but this is one of the last meaningful events you will get to share with your classmates and friends. Enjoy yourself to the fullest and take plenty of pictures!
